Description of Historic Site: Built in the early 1850s by lumber baron Horace D. Moore for his then fiancée Tamar Phillips. Tamar insisted that they build their home near their lumber mill where most of the lumber would be coming from. Other than a few mechanical additions and some exterior restoration work the home is mostly unchanged in its 160+years of history. The home now operates as the Park House Inn. The various rooms all pay homage to the Moore family and Susan B. Anthony who spent some time at the home as a guest of Tamar’s in 1879.
