Name of Historic Site:  Zeeland Colony/Founding of Zeeland

Description of Historic Site:  The city of Zeeland was founded by Jannes Vander Luyster, Reverend Cornelius Vander Meulen, and approximately 450 other Dutch immigrants in 1847.  Vander Luyster who was a wealthy farmer from Zeeland, Netherlands bought a total of 1680 acres of land at $1.25 an acre to begin the city of Zeeland.
