Name of Historic Site:  West Michigan Furniture Company Building (Private Company offices)

Description of Historic Site:  In 1889 Frank W. Hadded, George P. Hummer, and Frank Metz founded the West Michigan Furniture Company.  It was the first company to take a chance in Holland and also the first with electricity.  The new furniture company was a profitable business from the beginning.  During the great depression the West Michigan Furniture Company employed twenty percent of the residence in Holland.  In 1976 Padnos bought the company and in 1980 Padnos kept the land but sold West Michigan Furniture Company to Mueller Furniture Company.
