Name of Historic Site:  Hope College Graves Hall/Winants Chapel

Description of Historic Site:  Graves Hall and Winants Chapel are named after Nathan Graves and Gerrit Winants who combined donated $10,000 to the estimated $40,000 it cost to build the hall.  The building was dedicated in 1894 it was built because of the rapidly growing student population.  It is also the third oldest building on the campus after Vorhees Hall and the President’s Home.  The building is made out of locally sourced Waverly stone.
