Name of Historic Site:  Dutch in Michigan Informational Designation

Description of Historic Site:  February 9, 1847 Rev. Albertus C. VanRaalte and a band of Hollanders founded the City of Holland.  Graafschap, Zeeland, Vriesland, and Overisel had been established in two years.  The settlers found their first year a hard one as they were not accustomed to clearing forested land and were plagued by illness.
