Congregation of Noordeloos Church (Michigan Historic Marker)

Name of Historic Site:  Congregation of Noordeloos Church Informational Designation

Description of Historic Site:  Due to Religious discord and antipathy with earlier religious leaders the Western Michigan settlements set to succede from the reformed church.  On April 8, 1857 Reverend Koene van den Bosch joined by three other churches, presented a letter to the Holland Classis. Because of the letter of succession from Noordeloos was dated earlier than the other documents that were presented to the Classis, the Noordeloos Christian Reformed church has the distinction of being first Christian Reformed Church.
