Description of Historic Site:  Built in 1879 this is the oldest remaining vehicular swing bridge of its kind in the United States.  The bridge was designed so that the center of the bridge would swing upward with a hand crank to allow boat traffic to flow up or down river.  The bridge was completely restored in 2004 and is now open to the public for pedestrian traffic only.  It is the center piece of New Richmond Bridge County Park.
